Project Pitlord

And recently i've been playing Dota 2. One of my all time favorite characters in Dota is Pitlord a.k.a Azgalor, but it seems that they still haven't include that specific character yet. So my next project is to create Pitlord my version.

So let's start things up with a warm up sketch of Pitlord.

After i got the idea and checked out some references, i started to create some silhouettes.

I made front and side views, my observation on the character designs in Dota 2, i realize that when i play the new characters, i feel fresh and new to my eyes although it is still the same character but different design. Therefore on my approach to my version of Pitlord, ill try to create something new.

Facial work up 1

And so since i like to draw pose, facial and composition, ill start to sketch more as possible. And this is the 1st one to be. 

Sketchy sketch

Started on a random rough sketch end up like this. I realize one biggest mistake, the direction of the wind blew her hair... oh wells.

WIP Lady Death

After i choose my final pose, i bring the sketch into A4 size canvas.

And here i go starting with lines. Since i roughly shape out the character, right now is more to line drawing and i begin with her face.

And slowly taking shape below -

I feel in the value and draw the outline at the same time, because of that i need to refine more later.... So far im getting the hang of it :)

After block in the head, i went for part of the body, and also clean up the face and added more details in the scars follow by light and shadow including the eyes area.

I've completed adding values to the upper body, after that is when imagination comes in. My 1st idea was that she's casting fire magic, and then the idea change into her holding a skull which i feel that it is a bit blend, after that change into holding a crystal ball and a man inside the ball burn alive... yea... kinda violent xD.

As for the beetle shoulder...i removed a few horns and changed into a shell... cause i need an area which the audience can rest the eyes. Next thing to do is more details, light and shadows.....

Half way to go to finish BLACK AND WHITE..... once done all the stuff i need to do, then i shall color the character.  Tired? yes and no... xD

Eggcellent ~ Done some of the eggs and eye ball... more to refine.

Color scheme.... I've finish black and white composition, just to know... 

I basically finish the whole thing including color. My friend pick one of them up there, and i've completed 80%. The other 20% i need to finish the leg section and close up of the character. Few more touch up and i can say i'm officially finish my third page for the art book. =)

For now i need to rest and continue last time tomorrow... 

Page 3....Sketch Begins

On to the 3rd piece. Not going to A4... but to start on a smally size for the canvas. I have no idea what character to draw as usual during the starting. So imma sketch around -

So far this is the pose i come up with.... I think ill be drawing female warlock/shadow mage/demon/night hunter/zombie/vampire/whore/witch.

BREAK DOWN

Came down to 2....Going for either beetle with dark crystal, or dragons and demon....

character ill go for either zombie vampire or dark ork or night elf or human or MIX....

choice of colors- blue, purple, red.....

Ill play around the sillouet for awhile then finalize the pose and shape.....

BOOM!!!!!

final pose... and overall rough sketch. I'll start work on it and refine everything.................

WIP bad-blood -

As so after i post the blog i continue with the painting... i start up with the face.  Fill in the value... Light and shadows as usual.

I still not sure how the exact face looks like but i can roughly know by filling in the value. I use big brush shape  then later ill use smaller ones for detail.

Then i form up the face. so right now after i post this, i realize 1 eye is big another is smaller a bit.... so im gonna tweek a bit and off to dinner.... i'll continue when i come back. 

LOLOL few minutes later still painting... hahaha... yes its true... addicted. Thats why its like a drug too me..

OK FOR REAL IM OFF TO DINNER!!!

Colours and tone added in.... I'm going to work more on his skin.  Later i'll add bruises and blood and more light and shadow.

                                                        Half way to go.....  ( The Face )  I've adjust the skin tone ,added blood dripping down the face and also the details inside the scar. It look complete but as i said before.... quality control. I don't want to see obvious brush strokes broken half way. I've blend the light and added darker shadow for contrast. .....
Next thing to do - wrinkles, pimples, adjust facial hair and more light/shadows, add sweat, add smaller scars , add a bit of purple.... adjust the mouth/teeth and block up the hair. When i finish the whole head, then i'll go for body. So far the whole process took me around 2 to 3 hours from scratch i think.  Gonna sleep soon.

THE NEXT DAY 

woke up an hour ago..... started to fill in upper body, light and shadows soon, i play around the value just to know whether im going metallic on some part of the gear.... Going out soon, architecture exhibition... will continue later. 

Feel up the value in the whole body, will add more light and shadow and some details including the hand, then i shall fill in colors. Will change some shapes later.

BOOM!!!!!

I've finally completed. Been on and off working on this piece. This image above is more for presentation, i wont upload  original/final image in this blog due to some reasons but i uploaded in the dropbox folder so the group who involve can check it out. About this image above, is not completely finish because the final piece is way more detail that this.  Outline works on top also good for production design, and alternate costume is for more design ideas. 

Now I've complete and i shall work on my third piece.

Artbook in the making

I made my 1st page, ... I'm not sure what to expect for the content of the art book. Now i think i know what to put for the other pages. And i shall begin page 2.  1st of all WIP and more coming soon.

About my 1st page, I feel it's more like my warm-up painting. Just a little advice. Triple check before you say your works are completed, i'm lazy to explain why but all i can say is "Quality Control".

We need to find a time to discuss together.

I'll be working on my portfolio content, and stuff for an art book. I might also post up some old works and doodles.
